Clear Shape Technologies was founded by a team of proven industry veterans with vast technical expertise in the semiconductor-manufacturing and electronic-design-automation industries. The foundation that was the basis for the contract between IC design and manufacturing has been shaken. Clear Shape Technologies, Inc. is focused on renewing this contract for every design team and manufacturing group. With sub-100nm process technologies, the assumptions that were the foundation of the contract between design and manufacturing have steadily crumbled. Manufacturing variations dramatically impact chip performance. Yield seems hopelessly unpredictable. IC designers tape out, believing they have met their design targets – only to find that their chip isn’t manufacturable with reasonable yield, or, at all. For the industry to efficiently continue moving forward, there is a dire need for tools and technology that re-institute designers’ confidence that their chips will meet performance specifications and be manufacturable at high yields. Semiconductor manufacturers, on the other hand, need to be confident that all designs they receive can be economically manufacturable at high yields using any and all manufacturing techniques they might choose to employ without jeopardizing their process technology know-how. The contract must be renewed.
