Novasys Medical is a privately held, venture backed company which is developing novel treatments and solutions designed to better address significant health and lifestyle issues impacting women worldwide. The company's initial focus is on the commercialization of a proprietary, non-surgical Radio Frequency device to treat female stress urinary incontinence. More than 65% of female incontinence patients in the United States (8.3 million women) experience stress urinary incontinence. Of these women, approximately 85% (7 million) have incontinence primarily due to hypermobility of the bladder outlet, and approximately 15% (1.3 million) have incontinence primarily due to an intrinsic sphincter muscle deficiency. Stress urinary incontinence can have a dramatic negative impact on quality of life and can severely restrict social and family activities.
