Teknovus
Teknovus is a leading provider of communication chipset solutions for broadband access networks. Teknovus designs, develops and supplies chipsets for Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH), Fiber-to-the-Premise (FTTP), and Fiber-to-the-Business (FTTB) access networks. The Teknovus EthernetPON is a family of gigabit Ethernet PON (EPON) chips enabling low cost fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) and fiber-to-the-business (FTTB) solutions. EthernetPON provides a complete system-on-a-chip, based on the emerging 802.3ah standard, consisting of the TK3721 for EPON OLTs, TK3701 for low-cost EPON ONUs, and TK3711 for high-performance EPON ONUs. EPONs are low-cost shared fiber optic access networks that reduce the capital and operational expense of FTTH and FTTB systems by eliminating active devices in the outside plant, minimizing fiber deployment and reducing the number of optical ports at the central office. The Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) P802.3ah Ethernet in the First Mile (EFM) Task Force is in the process of defining a new standard for EPONs. The Teknovus EPON chipset enables carriers and service providers to win with a higher return on investment. They can now expand their subscriber services with television and video, thus enabling competition with satellite and cable providers.
