Winfield Capital Corp. is a small business investment company (SBIC). The Company is a non-diversified investment company that has elected to be regulated as a business development company, a type of closed-end investment company. It uses funds borrowed from the United States Small Business Administration, together with its own capital, to provide loans and make equity investments. Winfield Capital invests in various kinds and classes of securities of portfolio companies, including, but not limited to, notes and bonds, straight, senior, subordinated, convertible and interest-paying debentures, preferred stock, common stock, and options and warrants to purchase the foregoing. The Company's investments are made, with the intention of having loans repaid within five years and equity investments liquidated within five to 10 years.
