Matrix Semiconductor, Inc. has developed the means to create three-dimensional integrated circuits using standard manufacturing techniques and materials. In making the best use of a semiconductor wafer's area by building up rather than out, this technology allows the company to design chips for high-volume markets at the absolute lowest cost. The first product based on this technology will be MatrixTM 3-D Memory, which is the first semiconductor memory delivered at a cost low enough to be considered a consumable. The initial market for this product will be memory cards for portable electronic devices such as digital cameras, MP3 players, portable game devices, PDAs, and many more. Memory cards based on Matrix 3-D Memory will conform to standard FormFactors, be compatible with existing hardware, and come to market under some of the world's best-known brands as early as the first half of 2003. As the 3-D semiconductor company, Matrix Semiconductor will continue to innovate and develop other semiconductor products based on 3-D technology.
