Legend Silicon Corporation is a developer of advanced semiconductor broadcasting protocol, software and reference platforms. These products support the transmission and reception of high definition television (HDTV) content to televisions, set-top boxes and mobile devices, such as personal computers, portable media players (PMP), cell phones and vehicles. Legend Silicon was founded in 1999 by graduates from Tsinghua University in Beijing, China, who had previously worked in the U.S. technology industry for more than 15 years. Legend Silicon is located in Fremont, California and in the Chinese cities of Beijing, Shanghai and Tianjin. Legend Silicon is a world-class provider of broadband wireless communication and broadcasting technology, with top-ranking engineers and an experienced management team. Legend Silicon played an active role in the development of the China Digital Television Terrestrial Broadcasting System Standard (GB20600-2006). The company joined with Tsinghua University in 2000 to establish the Digital TV Technology Research Center. There a new advanced modulation technology – TDS-OFDM (Time Domain Synchronization – Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) – was developed. Using TDS-OFDM, Legend Silicon brought to market a new terrestrial DTV broadcasting protocol, called DMB-T (Digital Multimedia/TV Broadcasting-Terrestrial). DMB-T is the backbone of the China Terrestrial DTV standard, which will become mandatory for broadcast signals across China starting in August 2007. Legend Silicon provides the modulators for transmission equipment vendors and demodulators for companies developing digital TV receivers for fixed, mobile and portable devices. These devices enable end-to-end solutions for terrestrial DTV broadcasts in China. Legend Silicon’s solutions are available in volume production today.
